Designer Christian Siriano shares his knowledge and professional advice in a fabulous new style bible.

The Project Runway winner's new book, Fierce Style, is packed with hints, tips, and gorgeous illustrations showing you how to change your fashion style from drab to fab.

Fierce Style

Written by fashion designer Christian Siriano and Rennie Dyball (of People Magazine,) Fierce Style is more than just a how-to book to fashion: the beautifully illustrated volume features advice and tips that apply to everyone who wants to improve their appearance and their wardrobe – regardless of age, gender, or budget. From choosing your work attire to getting dressed for a party, Fierce Style not only tells you what to do, but also shows you how to do it – in a few quick and easy steps!

Style guidelines and a few pieces of advice from Siriano and Hollywood fashionistas:

What to Buy

  • Instead of Uggs, opt for a boot with a heel, something that will show off your legs.
  • Invest in a wonderful pair of stilettos, such as classic, red soled Christian Louboutin pumps.
  • Splurge on good quality, black Wolford tights.
  • Treat yourself to a good black leather purse, and a fun Marc Jacobs bag.

Hints and Tips

  • Turning to things you liked as a child will help you develop your own unique style today.
  • Spend your dollars wisely on a few dream pieces, and hit the bargain stores for things that are less important to you.
  • Whether you're going to school or to a party, keep in mind that first impressions are key to being perceived as fierce.
  • There's no need to go for head-to-toe sexy. One super sexy choice piece will get men's attention, guaranteed!

Siriano Lingo

Before you learn to walk the (runway) walk, you've got to learn to talk the (fashion) talk.

  • Fierce: Flawlessly fabulous.
  • Fabulous: Anything that fills you with excitement.
  • Ferosh: Fabulous, but not necessarily fierce.
  • Trust: Short for "trust me." Pronounced as two syllables, "tuh-rust," because, Siriano explains, when you're busy being fierce and fabulous, you simply don't have time to utter complete words, let alone entire sentences.

Designer Christian Siriano

Originally from Annapolis, Maryland, Christian Siriano studied at the American Intercontinental University in London and apprenticed with Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood before winning Bravo's Project Runway competition in 2008, when he was twenty-one years old. Since then, he has been involved in a multitude of projects including creating a line of shoes and handbags for Payless and a makeup collection for Victoria's Secret Beauty.

The rising design star has also worked with Puma and LG Mobile, and served as Fashion Correspondent for numerous award shows including the Emmy Awards and the Golden Globe Awards. Siriano, who credits stylist Rachel Zoe as an inspiration, has dressed a variety of celebrities himself – including Lady Gaga, Pink, and Victoria Beckham – and has shown two runway collections at New York Fashion Week. Fierce Style is his fabulous first book, and is a must for anyone wanting to be fierce, fabulous, and flawless. Trust.
